My parents looked at each other in disbelief.
“Ali why do you want to call off your wedding?” My father asked.
My mom looked at me in anticipation.
“I don’t think I can do this anymore,” I replied.
More tears kept rolling down my cheeks. I allowed them to flow. I was vulnerable with my parents. They had seen it all since I was an infant.
“Calm down,” my mom said, looking concerned. There was silence in the room. My parents watched me cry and waited for me to stop. I stopped crying, and I pulled out Kleenex from my purse and wiped my eyes.
“I hope you have thought through this decision you are making, or is it a spur of the moment feeling?” My father asked.
It was not a spur of the moment feeling. My fiancé ditched me.
No calls, no messages. No visits. All efforts on my end have proved futile.
