It was the same night Abba left me.
She dumped me without any real reason.
Maybe I was not like the tech guys she had been entertaining in her DM’s. The relationship had expired. The early days when we looked forward to hearing each other’s voices on the phone after work, date nights, vacations had slowly come to a grinding halt.
Small talk was a bore. It felt forced.
I didn’t know where I had gone wrong, but Abba began to avoid calling me. Text responses took hours, it was like waiting for an email from a recruiter.
I planned dinner by the waterfront to talk things over and maybe rekindle the romance I felt we might have left. Abba reluctantly agreed after coming up with a million excuses why she couldn’t come.
I was determined.
I bought tickets to a show she had been wanting to see.
She was happy and willingly obliged.
I was excited to take her out and make her happy.
It took me an hour to decide on what to wear, after getting dressed, i combed my beards which had finally decided to connect and then sprayed some cologne.
I stared at the reflection in the mirror, he looked perfect.
