Vanessa glanced around the cafe with an uncomfortable look on her face.
“I should have told you this a long time ago,” Vanessa began. Lauren stared at her childhood friend confused. She didn’t want to believe there was a problem. She wanted the problem to be from her end, a one-sided problem that didn’t exist, a problem that was all in her head. From the look of things, the problem was beginning to sound like something much bigger than she would be able to cope with.
“I have been hearing certain things about Damina.” Vanessa began.
“You listen to rumors and gossip?” Lauren said. She was in denial. She made up her mind that whatever Vanessa was going to tell her won’t be the truth.
“Not exactly, can you hear me out please?” Vanessa said calmly. She could tell her friend was beginning to get anxious. This was the scenario she was trying so hard to avoid, because she didn’t know what she would do when Lauren heard the news and lost it.
“I saw something the other day that bothered me.” Vanessa continued.
