“It was a total circus, now I am at war with one of my sisters,” my mom retorted.
One thing I noticed about my mom and her siblings was that they were willing to take the bullet for each other at the expense of their relationship with their children. It was something we could never understand. It was a beautiful thing to be all about your siblings, but we the children suffered a lot.
“You can always fix the relationship,” I murmured.
The words slowly came out of my mouth and the impact seemed deadly. My mom was angry.
“Do you think I am joking with you?” My mom asked. I dont think it has hit my mom yet that I am an adult, who has once been married. She talks to me like I am still in grade school sometimes and I find it rather appalling.
“Mom, this is not the best time to vent about what happened at brunch,” I said not looking at her, even though I felt her eyes on me.
“You owe your aunt and your cousin an apology,” she said.
