Yemi looked at me and hesitated.
“I want us to find a way, but let’s not talk about that right now,” he replied with a tone full of sincerity.
I felt a surge of relief. The verdict was not final, but I felt some type of way. As much as I wanted to know what he wanted, I was glad he didn’t hit me with some news I was not expecting.
If he decided to work on our marriage, would we still be able to fix what was far damaged? How would the story end? I wanted to ask about the pregnant woman he was living with?
Was it his child or did she trap him with the pregnancy to keep him because his marriage was threatened.
Would we be able to compromise despite the wreck I caused this marriage by cheating, or would we remain prisoners of our past mistakes?
“I can wait,” I replied doubting my words as I spoke them. A part of me wanted to wait and the other part of me wanted to talk things over today, but I feared if I pushed, he would make a hasty decision that would not favor me.
“I will leave now so you can get some rest, I am sure it has been a long day for you.” he suggested.
