Yemi took a deep breath, his eyes never leaving mine. “I want to try again.”
I was at a loss for words. He wanted to try again. If anyone had told me those words would come from Yemi, I would have highly doubted it. After all, he was starting a family with another woman. He was emotional. “Rose of Sharon, I want to see if we can save our marriage.”
My eyes felt teary, and my heart began to beat fast. I didn’t expect this, but I believed we were long overdue for this talk. I was getting ready to receive divorce papers from him; I had committed adultery. Adultery is immediate grounds for a divorce. Yet here he was, offering hope. Did I deserve a second shot at this marriage? Was this what I truly wanted if I had to be honest with myself?
“How can we move past everything that happened?” I asked, my voice trembling with confusion and anxiety.
“Let’s take one step at a time. We can go to counseling, therapy, anything that will make things work for us in the end.”
