I was racially profiled by a white woman
It has been so many years since I experienced racial discrimination. The first time, it was in college by my math teacher, a Russian lady. The dean approved the report in my favor and the teacher was suspended.
First of all, I am black and female. In college, I was always the only black and female in all my classes. I was a science major. Most of my favorite counterparts were white and male. I never saw color or race. I always identified first as human, female, and then black.
Thirteen years later, I experienced a somewhat horrible experience yesterday.
I had to pick up a box of envelopes and letters from a friend that needed to be addressed and mailed out. He was not going to be home when i got there so he left the box on the front porch. When i got to his residence, I came out of my car and walked cautiously to the front door to pick it up. As i walked back to my car, a white lady with a thick accent which ended up being a Russian accent walked briskly towards me.
LADY; Do you live here?
ME: No, I don’t
LADY: So you are stealing a package.
She jumped to the front of my car and started taking pictures of my license plate and started taking…
