I woke up in the morning feeling light headed. I looked at the clock on the wall. It was past 6am.
I heard my mom walking around the house. It was breakfast time, her usual morning routine was to make breakfast for my dad and get my younger ones ready for school. I usually took care of myself in the morning and ended up in the front passenger seat of her car to get dropped off at school.
We lived on the island in Lagos, Nigeria.

She realized I hadn't come down yet. My legs were heavy. I didn't want to get out of bed. I had a math test this morning, I didn't study for it last night because I was too tired.
“Grace!” my mom yelled. Grace was my fourteen year old sister going on forty. She was the most lively person in the house, and my mom’s favorite child.
“Yes mom,” Grace replied. She was in her room next door.
