My heart began to beat fast when I looked at my phone. Jason and I have been together for four years and midnight was our time together. We were used to midnight calls, audio and video. We even fell asleep and the call would be on until one phone battery dies. But tonight, something felt different. I had been feeling some type of way the last few days and I could not put a finger on what it could be. I sensed some change in Jason, but I could not say anything incase it was just me being in my feelings.
I called Jason and on the fourth ring he answered.
“The love of my life,” Jason greeted as he answered the phone on the fourth ring.
“Where were you? You took a while to answer” I replied.
“Oh, my phone was on silent, I am sorry,” he replied.
Why was his phone on silent? He should be expecting me call or even be the one to call. It was midnight,our time together before going to bed. I was an RN who worked during the day, Jason was a software engineer, he also had a busy schedule during the day, so midnight was the agreed time for phone calls and video calls.I decided to test him to know if he would tell the truth, if he would confirm my feelings of suspicion.
