The waiter scribbled the orders down in his little notepad and walked away.

There was small talk at the table. Sandra was telling everyone about her new boyfriend from Kingston. He was a new tech hire at a reputable tech company. Sandra went through men like underwear. She made so much money and believed that if a man could not match up to her, he didn’t need to be in her life.

“Good luck to you, dear,” Nelly replied.

“Thank you,” Sandra replied with a smile.

“Was the good luck a wish from your heart or plain sarcasm?” Keisha asked.

“Whatever you make of it hun, “ Nelly said with a smile.

Keisha said nothing.

Nelly and Sandra seemed to be the high rollers in the group. They said and did things to make others feel small, or maybe it was just me.

“We need to plan a girls’ trip soon. Maybe we can go out of the country this time,” Abby suggested taking the attention away from the other two ladies to herself.
