The narcissist is known to wear a mask, because the face that you are being shown is not their real face.
The person shown to you is not their real self. The narcissist will show you that they can be empathetic and you can trust them. I will let you know plain and simple that it’s all a mask that will fall off when they are exposed. The mask can fall off in two weeks from now or in six months. Once the masks slips you will see them for who they truly are.
Behind the mask, they are pretty ugly. The mask they wear projects an image of grandiosity and success.
A narcissist wears a mask because it’s the easiest way to get you. As time goes on it becomes their power over you.
The way the narcissist abuses the victim is by initially impressing you, they come off as charming and very caring especially in the beginning stages of the relationship. They call and text frequently. They make you feel special, like they cannot spend a day or night without you, until the mask falls off. They give you a false commitment. So enjoy the attention and shower of love while it lasts.
The painful realization that everything is a facade. Depending on how one deals with disappointment like that, it will take a toll on the mental health and also the emotional well being. Self doubt will become imminent and the loss of ability to discern reality.
This is the beginning of abuse.
