The police officer took a seat in Sophia’s office. It was a small space that felt cramped, but it was well-furnished. Sophia sat across from him, her mind in absolute chaos.
“Ms. Sophia, I’m Officer Johnson,” he began as he flipped open the small notebook in his hand. “First of all, I’m sorry for your loss. You seem to have lost a lot of merchandise.”
“Thank you, Officer. It’s a lot to process,” Sophia replied, trying to keep her voice steady. “What can you deduce from what happened here?”
“I am still trying to put things together. It is evident the burglars knew what they were doing. They bypassed the security alarm system and went for the high-value items. It could be an inside job,” Officer Johnson said.
Sophia nodded, feeling a cold lump of dread settle in her stomach. “I think so too. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Having an insider steal from me and making it seem like an outside job is preposterous.”
