Moet….

MOET

The twelve hour flight from London to California was exhausting. The plane landed smoothly at San Francisco International Airport.

I was here to start a new life. I left my grandmother in London to live with my father and his new wife. I didn't know what to expect with this new living situation. My grandmother was diagnosed with stage two ovarian cancer. She could not take care of me like she was supposed to. She called my father and told him to take care of me. He didn't mind.

My mother was in prison doing time for her crime. My grandmother was hurt for a few years, but I was her comfort.

My mom was her only child, and I was my mom’s only child. I claimed my baggage at Baggage Claim and walked outside the airport. The sea of people weaving past me made me feel a little dizzy. I heard someone call my name.

“Moet!” a male voice called.

I looked in the direction of the sound where my name was coming from. I recognized the man. My father, I was so happy to see him.
